Nichole Gronvold Roller, Gwen Settle
July 15 – August 28, 2026
Opening Saturday, July 18 · 5–7PM
4523 Liberty Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15224
In Some Things Soften color arrives first. It doesn’t ask for permission. In our front gallery, Gwen Settle dissolves the instinct to analyze. Surfaces move, bloom, and spread, pulling the body forward before the mind can organize what it sees. And then, something shifts.
In the main gallery, Nichole Gronvold Roller offers structure without rigidity. Her artwork holds the memory of looking, up, down, through, translating daily encounters with architecture, landscape, and design into measured compositions. After immersion, the eye begins to reassemble itself. Edges return. Space becomes navigable again.
This exhibition is a sequence. Settle softens the boundary between the viewer and the image. Roller rebuilds a way of seeing from within that softened state. Together, they ask what happens when perception is first overwhelmed, then quietly reorganized.
Some things soften. And in softening, they change how we move through the world.
