Silver Eye Center for Photography is proud to announce Sistermoon, a solo exhibition by Siri Kaur, on view December 3, 2026-February 6, 2027.

About Sistermoon

Siri Kaur’s Sistermoon interweaves intimate family portraits with magical visions of the natural world, exploring shifting relationships between selfhood, kinship, and time.

For thirty years, Kaur collaborated with her youngest sister, Simran, who is both her muse and the exhibition’s central figure. Other family members appear at key moments, from a snapshot of her parents’ wedding in 1976 to portraits of her father and sister in Italy, and her young son at rest and play. These multigenerational family portraits are juxtaposed with elemental forces of nature, world, evoking matrilineal power and interconnected cycles of life and renewal.

Kaur’s photographic practice blurs the boundaries between artist and subject, portraiture and self-portraiture. Drawing on Kaur and Simran’s experiences of adolescence and womanhood, the work raises broader questions: How does photography shape the relationship between artist and muse? What does it mean to grow up in a culture that objectifies women? And what does it mean to truly look at another person, and to be looked at in return?

This first extensive presentation of Sistermoon includes never-before-published photographs. Siri Kaur’s Sistermoon (VOID, 2025) is available from Silver Eye.
