Chuck Olson
October 22 – December 20, 2206
Opening Saturday, October 24 · 5–8PM
904 Main Street

This exhibition explores the human impulse to find structure within an uncertain and constantly changing world. Each painting establishes a sense of place through an horizon line—a simple, familiar point of departure that defines space, direction, and gravity. From there, form, color, gesture, and fragments of experience unfold in unexpected ways.
The works reflect Olson’s belief that painting is a means of organizing life itself: a place where art, history, travel, family, teaching, learning, and everyday encounters become tangible. Yet these compositions resist fixed interpretations. Like stepping alone into an unfamiliar landscape, they invite pause, discovery, and individual navigation.
In a time marked by uncertainty and opposing forces, these paintings occupy a space between order and disruption, isolation and connection, the tangible and the intangible. Ultimately, they ask us to reconsider how we construct—and continually reconstruct—our own sense of place.
